How to Choose the Best Bathroom Cabinets

If you’ve ever remodeled a kitchen, you know how important it is to get the cabinets just right. We believe that it’s equally important to get bathroom cabinets right—bathrooms are equally essential to the function of your home and need adequate and well-organized storage. Buying cabinets for any room involves many factors and can become overwhelming. To help you make your bathroom the best it can be, we have put together a list of things to keep in mind when choosing bathroom cabinets.

  • Quality Grade – Bathroom cabinets come in four basic grades: ready-to-assemble (RTA), stock, semi-custom, and custom. RTA is the least expensive, but what you save in cash you’ll lose on quality and materials. Stock cabinets are also generally affordable but are limited in options for size, style, and materials. Semi-custom cabinets offer a wide range of all three, but unlike custom cabinets they are measured in only three-inch increments and do not provide a truly tailored fit. Custom cabinetry offers the widest array of options, allowing you to personalize your bathroom cabinets to your exact space needs and design tastes.
  • Materials and Finishes – When choosing bathroom cabinets, it’s important to choose materials and finishes that will hold up in moist, humid conditions. For example, veneers are usually a poor choice for bathroom cabinets, as they tend to peel away with prolonged exposure to moisture. Be sure to select materials that will work well for your bathroom.
  • Drawers – Whatever other options you choose, you should make sure that your bathroom cabinet drawers are at least 3/8th to ½ an inch thick. Check that the drawers fit snugly in their box and open and close quietly and smoothly.
